  •   I obtained my ph.D. at 1982 under supervision of Ikuo Kushiro at Graduate School of Science, Tokyo University, Japan followed by postdoc at NASA Johnson Space Center, USA (1982-1984) and Geology Department, University of Oregon, USA (1984-1985). In 1985 I was enrolled as an Assistant Professor at Faculty of Science, Kyoto University, Japan. From 1990 to 2011, I served as Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor at College of Liberal Arts and Graduate School of Science, Osaka University, Japan. In 2011 I moved to Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University, Japan as a Professor. In 2019 I retired from Kyoto University.

      At present I am a research professor in Chinese Academy of Science at Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry. I am also a Visiting Professor at Ritsumeikan University, Japan.

  •   My research interest is to elucidate the origin and evolution of primitive solar materials (primitive meteorites and cometary dust) by combing systematic analysis using XCT, SEM, FIB, TEM, SIMS, IR and Raman etc. and experimental approaches (e.g., gas-condensation, aqueous alteration and ion irradiation). In connection with this research, I was performing analysis of returned samples form Comet Wild2 by the Stardust mission, Asteroid Itokawa by the Hayabusa mission (as PI of Hayabusa Sample Preliminary Examination) and Moon by the Apollo and Luna missions. Lately, I have started the analysis of samples returned from the asteroid Ryugu mainly on the 3D structures using X-ray nanotomography.
